Visiting Salem County, The Seasons, The Lifestyle, The Experience

When is the best time to visit Salem County? The best time to go to Salem County depends on why you want to visit the garden spot of the garden state. The area has reasons for each season to attract visitors and day trippers.

Well there aren’t many gardens in January, you might say. And that’s true January is not the best time to visit Salem County for the fresh picked produce you find from May through September, however a bright sunny day in January or February is perfect for a day trip to one of the many historic sites for which Salem County is famous. The “off season” has its own attraction, a time to visit some places on the New Jersey Coastal Heritage Trail, stopping for a picnic at Fort Mott, or visiting the shops in Salem or Woodstown. How about a little antiquing without the crowds, this might be the time to find some real bargains.

Spring is my favorite time to enjoy the natural beauty of Salem County in bloom. The air is fresh and clean, the trees are bursting in bloom, white, pink and yellow against a deep blue sky. Everyone seems friendlier in the spring, the playgrounds and parks are filled with children laughing and families just having fun.

Summer is Agritourism time in Salem County and the county offers visitors a wide array of activities and attractions. The farm markets are open, Cowtown Rodeo and Flea Market, Salem County Fair, canoeing, hiking, bike riding are just a few of the fun recreational activities the whole family can enjoy.

Fall offers glorious days of Indian Summers with yellow and orange foliage, a good time to visit the Salem County wine trail and tasting rooms. Woodstown has a couple of fall events you don’t want to miss, the Woodstown Fall Festival and the Candle Light Tour. Fall is the perfect time to drive through the rolling country side and escape the hustle and bustle of urban life.
